Art at Argo’s: Abby Feinknopf

“Snowy Garden”, acrylic on canvas framed in gold.

With October being breast cancer awareness month, we were overjoyed to have the talented local artist and cancer survivor, Abby Feinknopf, join us this quarter for Art at Argo’s. I was uplifted the first time I was introduced to her work. Abby, a survivor of breast cancer, turned to painting just after she was diagnosed. The act of making art every day and the power of bold, vibrant colors is what helped her through it. She now strives to encourage and empower others with her work. Her exhibit at Argo & Lehne is as cheerful and bright as her personality and positive outlook.

We introduce you to her Art at Argo’s Exhibit: “The Power of Color” July 29 – Oct 25.  In addition, we will have an Art Opening on Thursday, August 15th from 5-7 pm. You will have an opportunity to meet Abby in person to discuss her work and her encouraging story of healing through art.

Argo Approved: Oakland Interiorscapes

Oakland Nurseries, so much more than a horticulture nursery, offering wedding and event decor.

Oakland Nurseries; a family owned business that has been around for almost 80 years, has always been my “go to” plant store with one of the widest selections of plants. On the rare occasion that I’m unable to find what I’m looking for, they’ve always been more than willing to order it. I love the neighborhood feel and the customer service has always exceeded my expectations. I even had a sales associate reach out to me asking how I was enjoying the fountain I purchased. In my experience, this just doesn’t happen at every nursery.

I was aware that Oakland had services such as landscaping experts for commercial and residential spaces but didn’t realize that they have an Interiorscapes division that is dedicated to special events and custom décor. The Oakland Interiorscapes offers a wide selection of plant material for rent as well as many other green elements to make your wedding unique and magical. I can attest to their gorgeous designs, as I recently saw their work at the Garden Party Event at the Columbus Museum of Art. (more…)

Jewelry from Argo: ladies wedding band

Wedding Theme: Peacock

Venue: The Club at Corazon

“We were originally looking for a rustic barn type wedding.  We went to several in one day and just threw the Club in as a wild card.  I was so pleasantly surprised by them. Not only were they the most affordable of all the options, they had an AMAZING bridal suite, BEAUTIFUL grounds, and delicious food.  They were professionals from start to finish and were available to answer any of my questions or concerns. I would 100% recommend them to any bride!”

2019 has been ringing in new and unique trends for the year!  From unusual diamond cuts to mixed metals, you’re sure to make a statement with these pops of colors and Boho styles!

Fancy Diamond Cuts

Engagement rings with fancy diamond cuts have been trending with celebrities and social media.  Popular diamonds that we have been seeing are Pears, Trillions, and Marquise. These diamonds make for a unique, one of a kind ring that stands out from all of your friends’ and family’s rings!

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Lab-Grown diamonds have been on the rise, and more people are beginning to jump on their lower prices.  Lab-grown diamonds are ethical, eco-conscious and do not require any mining. Everything about these lab-grown diamonds is real, the only difference is that they are grown in a lab, not mined.  No one can tell the difference, because YES they are real diamonds! Have you always wanted that Two Carat diamond, but figured you could never afford it, ask about Lab Grown, you will be pleasantly surprised about what you can get for your money.

The Family Business – a wife’s perspective, by Glenda Argo

“From Berkshire Hathaway and Wal-Mart to small stores everywhere, about 90% of all U.S. businesses are family-owned or controlled by a family. Family businesses generate over 50% of the US Gross National Product (GNP).”  – Forbes.com

“Our business is about people, not status or bling per se, but marking moments and milestones in relationships with beautiful, well-made works of art. Whatever the importance of the event or size of the gift, the icon and presentation must be special and unique.” – Robert Argo, owner

The Argos in 1981 on the occasion of Bill receiving the AGS Shipley Award. Sarah Argo Clark, William A. Argo, Barbara Argo, Robert Argo

My first introduction to the Argo family was when Robert, now my husband of 40 years, took me home to present to his parents as his bride-to-be. I was terrified! I had heard so much about this prominent, illustrious family. The family business, Argo & Lehne Jewelers, was an incomparable icon in Columbus, Ohio. I grew up on a farm in Iowa, far removed geographically and culturally from this world. Or so I thought.

Art at Argo’s – Viewing the Village: the art & artists of German Village

This poem was written in June of 1967, describing the essence of the village then and still today.

This small neighborhood, just south of downtown is a destination for many Columbus residents. There are quaint homes, brick streets and just something about the flickering gas lighting an art lover can’t resist.  Some have nestled into the neighborhood calling it home with their studios, while others simply enjoy painting the picturesque views of the streets & parks.

A Royal Baby Shower – April 6

In New York City on February 20th, the media went crazy over the baby shower for Meghan Markle. Co-hosts, Serena Williams and Genevieve Hillis didn’t hold back on any of the frills at this intimate event. It was a two-day shower held at The Mark Hotel which included a flower arranging lesson, a dessert tasting and a scrumptious over the top dessert table. All were dressed to the nines in fashion-forward ensembles, including a knock out red jumpsuit worn by Amal Clooney.

Baby Shower Trends 2019

Traditional Baby Shower Gifts are our Specialty – Argo & Lehne Jewelers

  • Baby Cups & Feeding Spoons – remain the most popular gifts of all our baby goods items.
  • Monograms everywhere!! May we make a suggestion? Our favorite monogram font for girls is the intricate Interlocking font and for boys is Roman 4.
  • Engraving – everything personalized. A special engraved note will last a lifetime. On the classic baby cup, many place the monogram or baby’s name facing the child so they can learn their letters and how to recognize their own name.
  • Baby’s 1st Ornament – an heirloom piece on many of our customers’ Christmas trees is the A&L bell with the baby’s name and birth date engraved.
  • Sterling silver – a timeless metal. However, we sell many gorgeous, price approachable silver plate and pewter items as well.
