There is much to look forward to at The Columbus Museum of Art this spring. From April 19 – May 19 is the 2nd Designer Showcase and for those who participated in years past in the formerly named Decorators’ Show House, they are bringing the beloved garden shop back!! Think high-end and unexpected annuals & perennials guaranteed to turn heads. You’ll want to leave room in your car for these beauties! There will also be many special events to attend throughout the Designer Showcase including pop-up shops, Thursday designer nights, a Garden Party & even a Gala.

Designer Showcase
This is the second year that the Designer Showcase will be held in the museum. Fifteen local designers will transform the galleries into eighteen creative living spaces. It’s a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with our local interior design talent, apply different styles and techniques to your own home or to simply be transported into a beautiful interior space. All proceeds of the event will support creative initiatives such as the Wonder School, a laboratory preschool. Wonder School fosters purposeful play, critical inquiry and a collaborative community approach to education.
The Many Women Behind the Scenes…
Michelle Berger, CMA Garden Shop chair
Argo & Lehne is proud of our connection to the museum with our own president a Columbus Museum of Art Women’s Board member and chair of the Garden Shop at the Designer Showcase 2019. The visitors of the last Showcase had really missed the past garden shops and Michelle has worked hard with her team to present a large selection of annuals, perennials along with local gardeners. The shop will be located at the front entrance of the museum in front of the glass museum gift shop and the front walkway.
Katelyn Kelley, CMA Designer Showcase co-chair
Too often, we visit a stellar exhibit at the museum and we forget about all the hard work that goes into the project. Two of our good customers, Eleanor Harris and Katelyn Kelley, have stepped up as co-chairs for the event and we are blown away with all they have accomplished and how easy they make it look. Katelyn, a resident of UA, can be seen in the April edition of the UA Living Magazine in our “My Argo” ad. Katelyn comes from a long line of museum and women’s board volunteers. Both her grandmother and mother were very involved. At an early age, her parents enrolled her in the museum’s art classes. This event is extremely meaningful to Katelyn as it directly supports the children of the Wonder School. Click here to learn more.
Marketa Leeuwenburg, Dordrecht Museum & CMA liaison
And not to be missed is the “Life in the Age of Rembrandt” exhibit featuring Dutch masterpieces from the Dordrecht Museum with works spanning over three centuries. This exclusive exhibition, shown only in Columbus, OH, showcases some 40 masterworks. The exhibit wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance and coordination of another of our dear friends, Marketa Leeuwenburg. Marketa grew up in Dordrecht where her father was on the museum’s board for many years. The museum and their employees are like extended family to Marketa and a visit back home isn’t complete without stopping by. She too is a CMA Women’s Board member and had often thought of the benefits of a partnership between the two museums. A few years back she made the introduction and it has been a work in progress ever since. She is thrilled to see these masterpieces on the walls of CMA and hopes the two museums continue the relationship and loan art to each other for years to come! Click here to learn more.
We hope to see you this spring at CMA and here in the Argo & Lehne showroom to purchase your tickets! We thank you in advance for supporting the arts and the children of CMA!
